YASA motors is pleased to support the growing interest in the electric formula student competition. We are keen to develop the electric vehicle market and see student level projects as a key way to grow engineering expertise in this sector.
YASA motors has supplied motors to Formula student teams around the globe, including, Oxford Brookes in the UK, TUFast in Germany and Bringham Young in the USA. Typically teams have used 1 YASA-750 motor which will deliver up to 100kW of power and 750Nm of peak torque. Some teams have used two YASA-750 motors to enable torque vectoring. Teams have had great success with the YASA motor, for example, TUFast (Technical University of Munich) won every dynamic discipline at least once during the three races the 2011 season (apart from the Efficiency discipline where their highest finish was in second place). Furthermore, in their last race of 2011 in Turin the team won the Acceleration, Skid Pad and 22 km Endurance disciplines. Other teams, such as BYU in the United States have had similar success with the YASA Motor.
